Behind the Scenes
It begins with inspiration
Once inspired, I gather my materials and start with a pencil! Once I have sketched an outline I dive into the fun part! The painting! This one was particular fun to play with the fading and shadows, followed by the flower veins that I added at the end along the middle flower petal.
With watercolour, sometimes I need to let parts dry before adding the finishing touches. Once I am happy with it, I place my finished piece next to a window and carefully take a photo of it in natural daylight!
I edit the photos to give them the right vibe. This one took on a bit of a vintage feel. Next, I erase the background on the computer, creating almost like clip-art like images where I can play with their arrangement.
Next I order a fabric sample!
I liked it so much I ordered a duvet cover for my daughter’s bedroom!
Next, I use a Colour Map to help match the perfect purple in the iris to make matching complementary patterns!
